Do autism-friendly foods exist?

Someone asked me recently whether I could recommend autism-friendly foods. My short answer was no (and I don’t like saying no!)

But I did have a bit more to say. I have heard from quite a few autistic people and, just like anyone else, we have different tastes. When I was little, I really liked crunchy, bland foods. Now, though, I like foods with lots of different textures and flavours.

One person I know has always been drawn to really spicy foods - and he also seeks out strong sensory experiences in other ways too.

But if your sensory needs mean that you eat a small range of things (and that can be worrying, health-wise), then my tips on expanding your diet might be useful. Perhaps especially my food-chaining post. I’d welcome your views on this - do get in touch!
